In the summer of 2020, I worked as a design intern for the company "Weyco Group." I was primarily working under the brand Florsheim, which is a high end mens footwear line. My goal was to create several types of socks for the brand, and I created tech packs, requested samples and have finally gotten to see the socks in production.
"SPORTS" Sock

"Sports Marled":
Featured above is an alternate version of the Sport sock called the "Sports Marled." It has a more retro and argyle-inspired colorway, and feature a slightly thicker cotton material while still incorporating the Comfortech padding.

Sport Sock Tech Flats:
This sock was inspired by retro athletic socks with its iconic two-stripe branding, but also features a clean modern colorway and technology made to keep the wearer comfortable.
"Comfortech" is a Florsheim cushioning system that has previously only been featured on footwear; however, I was tasked with creating the first sock to feature this technology. The middle of the sock features a unique honeycomb-like padding that conforms to the wearer's foot to keep the sock in place and keep the foot both cool and cushioned.
These socks were a popular-selling item for Florsheim last season, and have had very positive reviews from wearers.

Many of the other colorways have either released and sold out, or were never released. These are my two favorite alternate colorways:
Sport Marled Tech Flats:
I had intended for this sock to be made using a Bamboo blend for its sustainability benefits, but this idea was used on a different sock (displayed later on this page.) This sock was instead made using a cotton blend.
The second two colorways were never officially released.
BAMBOO FLAT SOCK:
This sock was my favorite to create, as I was tasked with designing a more sustainable sock for the Florsheim brand. I did hours of material research, requested samples, and attended a virtual sustainability summit to gather information. I decided to use a bamboo blend for these socks as it is soft, moisture wicking, grows quickly and is biodegradable. This sock is both more comfortable and more sustainable than the standard Florsheim sock.
